A hands-on technical role, working as part of the BPDataWorx Production Domain central team, you will be a senior data engineer, data scientist or industry professional with a passion for data and a deep understanding of analytical techniques. You will be responsible for understanding the analytical requirements of Production domain stakeholders and ensuring the domain is delivering the data, data-driven insights, visualisations and analytics to Upstream.

  • Develop a broad understanding of Upstream’s Digital strategy, strategic platforms and their analytical capabilities
  • Responsible for gathering the analytical requirements of discipline leads, data owners and data leads, within the Production domain and Production Management scope
  • Co-ordinate and lead the delivery of high quality analytical insights, tools, reports and visualisations, leveraging available tools and technologies (PowerBI, Spotfire, Contour etc.) for the Production domain and its stakeholders, in line with stakeholder requirements and business need
  • Understand the Upstream strategic objectives for predictive analytics and machine learning and ensure the Production domain is delivering the data to meet those obejctives, working with the Production Data Team Lead
  • Help discipline directors and Upstream stakeholders to understand what is possible
  • Manage the Production domain analytics team and ensure the right level of skills and dev/ops support is in place
  • Advance the Production domain capability so it can deliver statistical insight on production related data quality and conformance, identifying anomalies, outliers and trends etc., within production data
  • Ensure the analytics team are following Agile methodology and leveraging Azure dev/ops and that they are working transparently
  • Produce Production data analytics performance reports for the Global Domain Lead, Chief Data Officer, Head of Digital and CTO
  • Work closely with colleagues within all DataWorx domains, Digital and 3rd parties, to ensure the domain is leveraging available platform functionality and not duplicating effort
  • Manage stakeholder relationships across Digital, Upstream Business and Technical Functions and 3rd parties as required

Required Skills

  • Demonstrable experience of quantitative and qualitative analysis and data science techniques: anomaly detection, clustering analysis, statistical modelling, delivery of actionable insights and analytics, performance reporting etc.
  • Proven experience in data management and/or data engineering with a good understanding of databases, data structures, data pipelines, big data platforms, data management practises and data standards etc.
  • Experience leading successful data teams
  • Expereience managing and manipulating structured data
  • Experience working Agile methodology and Azure dev/ops essential
  • Able to listen to the needs of technical and business stakeholders and interpret between them
  • A strong communicator, able to manage stakeholders’ expectations and facilitate difficult discussions
  • Demonstrated proficiency in one or more programming languages such as Python, SQL, Java, C++, JavaScript etc.
  • Demonstrable understanding of how to expose data (for example, through APIs) and link data from multiple systems (platforms)
  • Ability to work effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals
  • Skill and comfort working in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives and iteration with users
  • Self-starter, team player and proactive, positive approach
