North Devon Council (NDC) has warned residents that bin collections are likely to be delayed this week as staff members have been instructed to isolate following a coronavirus case.

A number of crew members from NDC have been advised to self-isolate resulting in a shortage of staff.

Areas that are likely to be affected include Ilfracombe, Lynmouth and Combe Martin.

In a statement made on Facebook, a spokesperson for NDC said: ”We have a number of crew members who have been advised to self-isolate, meaning we are short staffed at the moment.

”Crews that are affected the most are recycling in the Lynmouth, Ilfracombe and Combe Martin areas but the remaining crews will do their best to complete as much as possible.

”If your bins or recycling are missed, please leave them out for 48 hours but if they aren’t collected, to take them back in and put them out again on their next scheduled collection day alongside any extra waste.

”We apologise for any inconvenience caused.”
