Lewis Page looks set for another spell on the sidelines after his return from injury in the 3-2 win over Gillingham was cut short.

The summer signing was only just returned from a month out with a hamstring issue when he was forced off 25 minutes into his comeback.

Fortunately, the 24-year-old does not appeared to have suffered a recurrence of the long standing issue he has, but may once again be out for a number of weeks.

Matt Taylor, speaking after the FA Cup win, said that the injury to Page was the one downside of Saturday’s action, and said: “It looks like a muscle strain of some sort, not in his hamstring touch wood, but a hip flex of sort and that’s really unfortunate as with so many games coming thick and fast need all the players and that was his comeback today, but we’ve got Jack Sparkes who is in the rhythm of playing.”

Saturday also saw a return to action after an achilles problem for Nigel Atangana, which the Frenchman producing an imperious midfield performance before fitness meant he was taken off with 10 minutes to go.

Taylor added: “He’s been frustrated on the back of the injury and we hope we’ve got to the bottom of that. He showed his physicality in the middle of the park, he covers the ground well, and was quick to do the ball, but was out on his feet at the end.”
