A man has been arrested and charged after a spate of burglaries in Paignton.

Police increased patrols in the Preston area of town due to a number of reported break-ins at houses and shops.

They warned people to be vigilant and make sure premises were secure.

Anthony Moss, 44, has now been accused in connection to several incidents.

Paignton Police said: “In recent weeks we have been warning our communities about a number of burglaries, predominately in the Preston area of Paignton.

“Anthony Moss aged 44 was charged on Friday for a number of offences in the Preston area including burglary, attempted burglary, aggravated vehicle taking, theft of vehicle and possession of a class A drug. He has subsequently been remanded in custody to appear at Crown Court on 7th December 2020.

“Please can everyone remain vigilant and continue to make sure your home or business premises are as secure as possible. With the run up to Christmas and people buying presents, homes and shops are a great target for burglars.

“If you see anything suspicious, please call Police either via 999 or the 101 telephone service or use the 101 facility on the force website.”
