A 14-year-old girl was pulled to the ground and punched in the face by another girl during an unprovoked attack in Barnstaple.

Police in the town are appealing for information after the victim was attacked by another teenager while walking her dog.

The assault happened in the area of Pilton Lawn between 3.50pm and 4.10pm on Saturday, November 21.

Devon and Cornwall Police said: “The victim was walking her dog when she was confronted by a large group of youths and assaulted by a female from the group.

“The offender pulled the victim’s hair from behind causing her to fall to the floor and then continued to repeatedly hit her in the face.

“Anyone who was in the area at the time and may have seen the attack, or have any information which could assist police enquiries, is asked to contact police on 101 or via email at 101@dc.police.uk quoting crime reference number CR/098104/20.”
