A driver was arrested after they were spotted “swerving” on the A38 in Devon last night.

The vehicle was seen driving erratically on the dual carriageway at Ashburton, which prompted officers to stop the car.

But after the driver provided a negative breathing test, police spotted “Devil’s Lettuce” (cannabis) near the gear stick and they tested positive after officers used a drug detection product.

The Devon and Cornwall Roads Policing Team tweeted: “This vehicle was seen on the A38 near Ashburton swerving from lane 1 to 2. Driver stopped & provided a negative breath test. My eyes didn’t deceive me when I saw remnants of the Devil’s Lettuce near the gear stick. 1 positive @DrugWipeUK means 1 in custody. 3655/3315 #Police.”

A busy night for the roads policing team also saw a vehicle seized after the driver was disqualified from driving and that car had no insurance in Helston.

Police tweeted: “Yet another driver chancing them arm driving whilst #disqualified and with #NoInsurance in the #Helston area this evening. Vehicle seized and driver reported.”
