Production Domain Vision
For all Upstream production data to be contextualised, accessible, verified and quality assured against agreed data requirements, consistently managed and maintained globally and made automatically available to Engineers and Scientists within their strategic analytical tools.

Overview
The dataWorx Production Domain provides data support, including data governance, data stewardship and data curation, for production data across Upstream, in 10 regions globally and above the region in Sunbury and Houston.Role Responsibilities
A hands-on technical role working as part of the Production Domain central team and reporting to the Production Domain Team Lead. You will be a senior data manager, data engineer or industry professional with a passion for data. You will curate, manage and maintain Production datasets and data pipelines within Production analytic platforms in line with domain strategy.

  • Lead efforts to create, curate and transform global Production data sets at pace and scale, to enable Production analytics, writing complex code and developing and implementing domain standards and best practise
  • Lead efforts to create tools and techniques to proactively manage and maintain data health and deliver continuous data quality improvements to the end users
  • Resolve data problems and ensure issues are reported and closed out
  • Identify opportunities to improve Upstream production data quality and conformance
  • Manage metadata and complex code within the analytical tools and platforms
  • Create innovative solutions to improve process, workflow, best practice and service delivery
  • Lead efforts to identify solutions to stakeholder problems, automating and simplifying complex and manual processes
  • Deliver curated production data for Upstream strategic programmes
  • Develop a deep understanding of the Upstream value chain and production data types
  • Develop a deep understanding of Production data pipelines from the source systems of record via Upstream Data Lake (UDL) to analytical platforms, such as Azure and Foundry
  • Maximise the use and functionality of platform tools and technology, understanding what is possible
  • Proactively manage stakeholder relationships within dataWorx, Digital and 3rd parties
  • Actively seek out end user requirements and make recommendations to continuously improve the user experience
  • Take an active role in Production Domain communications, promoting the value delivered to Upstream and Digital
  • Identify opportunities to challenge conventional thinking, problem solve, innovate and automate

Required Skills

  • Recognised as a data specialist in one or more of the following – petroleum engineering, process engineering, production operations, data management, data engineering (Azure/AWS etc.) or working with data in a technical role
  • Proficient in one or more programming languages including SQL and/or Python essential
  • Knowledge of data management and analytical techniques, data models and data standards essential
  • Proficient in PowerBI and/or Spotfire desirable
  • Ability to work effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals
  • Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives and iteration with users
  • Familiarity with data structures, storage systems, cloud infrastructure, front-end frameworks, and other technical tools
  • Experience working Agile methodology and Azure dev/ops
  • Confident working in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Self-starter, team player and proactive, positive approach essential
  • Ability to use and learn new analytical tools and techniques
  • Knowledge of Upstream oil and gas data would be a bonus
  • Strong communicator at a technical and business level
