Production Domain Vision
For all Upstream production data to be contextualised, accessible, verified and quality assured against agreed data requirements, consistently managed and maintained globally and made automatically available to Engineers and Scientists within their strategic analytical tools.

Overview
The dataWorx Production Domain provides data support, including data governance, data stewardship and data curation, for production data across Upstream, in 10 regions globally and above the region in Sunbury and Houston.Role Responsibilities
A hands-on technical role working as part of the Production Domain team, you will be a senior data professional or engineer with a passion for data and a keen interest in object modelling and data analytics.

  • Develop a deep understanding of the Foundry analytical platform, Upstream Object Model, Ontology and any other object modelling technologies being used within Upstream
  • Develop a broad understanding of the Upstream value chain, Upstream data types, Reference and organisational data
  • Develop a good understanding of the Upstream analytical platforms, Data Fabric, Upstream Data Lake (UDL) and integration between analytical platforms, such as Azure and Foundry
  • Lead efforts to build anchor, business and workflow data objects within the Upstream Object Model, their related datasets and ontology (relationships), in line with business use cases and demand
  • Work with Data Owners and Upstream stakeholders to create, transform, steward and govern the Production data objects and their datasets
  • Build and manage Object Views within Foundry to enable end users to view and analyse their data
  • Maximise the use and functionality of the Upstream Object Model communicating with stakeholders and helping them understand what is possible
  • Lead efforts to resolve data problems and ensure issues are reported and closed out
  • Lead efforts to create tools and techniques to proactively manage and maintain object data health, deliver continuous improvements and enable end users to interact with the object model and data
  • Proactively manage stakeholder relationships within Dataworx, Digital and 3rd parties
  • Make recommendations to continuously improve the user experience
  • Take an active role in Upstream Object Model communications, promoting value delivered to Upstream and Digital
  • Advise and assist others on how best to integrate with the Upstream Object Model within Foundry
  • Identify opportunities to challenge conventional thinking, problem solve, innovate, automate and drive continuous improvement
  • Take an active role in the Upstream Object Model governance process

Required Skills

  • Recognised as a data specialist in one or more of the following – petroleum engineering, process engineering, production operations, geoscience, master data, data engineering, object models, ontology, data management or other relevant discipline
  • Proficient SQL and/or Python scripting essential
  • Experience working with data models, object models, ontologies and data integration essential
  • Experience and a good understanding of data management and analytical techniques, databases, data pipelines, big data platforms, data management practises and data standards etc.
  • Ability to work effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals
  • Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives and iteration with users
  • Experience working Agile methodology desirable
  • Confident working in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Self-starter, team player and proactive approach essential
  • Ability to use and learn new analytical tools and techniques essential
  • Strong communicator at a technical and business level
