Production Domain Vision
For all Upstream production data to be contextualised, accessible, verified and quality assured against agreed data requirements, consistently managed and maintained globally and made automatically available to Engineers and Scientists within their strategic analytical tools.

Overview
The dataWorx Production Domain provides data support, including data governance, data stewardship and data curation, for production data across Upstream, in 10 regions globally and above the region in Sunbury and Houston.Role Responsibilities
A hands-on technical role working as part of the Production Domain team, you will be a data professional or engineer with a passion for data and a keen interest in data.

  • Develop a good understanding of the Upstream Production value chain and production data types, including Allocated Well data, streaming sensor data (time-series) and production operations data
  • Develop a good understanding of the Upstream analytical platforms including Foundry and Azure, platform integration, Data Fabric, Upstream Data Lake (UDL)
  • Create, curate and transform global Production data sets at pace and scale, to enable Upstream Production analytics
  • Work with dataWorx Data Engineering Services (DES) and strategic 3rd Parties, to ensure that Production data pipelines are robust and working and any problems are reported and closed out
  • Proactively manage and maintain data health and deliver continuous improvements to the end users
  • Manage stakeholder relationships within Dataworx, Digital and 3rd parties
  • Understand end-user requirements and ensure Upstream production data is available for analytics
  • Manage, update and simplify data integrations, ensuring data continues to flow to the business-critical applications and tools
  • Identify opportunities to improve Upstream Production data quality and user experience
  • Manage metadata and code within analytical tools and platforms
  • Deliver data for Upstream strategic programmes as required

Required Skills

  • Proficient SQL and/or Python scripting (highly desirable)
  • Enthusiasm for Big Data and analytics essential
  • Experience working with data, transforming datasets, data wrangling
  • A good understanding of databases, data pipelines, analytical platforms, data management practises and data standards
  • Experience working Agile methodology desirable
  • Ability to work effectively in teams of technical and non-technical individuals
  • Comfortable working in a rapidly changing environment with dynamic objectives and iteration with users
  • Understanding or experience working in Upstream oil and gas desirable
  • Happy working in a fast-paced changing environment
  • Self-starter, team player and proactive approach essential
  • Awareness of and ability to use new analytical tools and techniques essential
  • Work experience or education in Petroleum Engineering, Process Engineering highly desirable
  • Knowledge of Production, Equipment and Production Operations data highly desirable
  • Ability (and willingness) to use new analytical tools and techniques
  • Ability to clearly communicate at the technical level
