This was the moment a car got thrashed around by huge waves on the North Devon coast.
The footage was shot by Kathy Dingle at Ilfracombe Quay near Verity on November, 19.
Kathy who was eye-witness to the severe weather confirms that the driver remained inside the vehicle whilst the waves continued to batter the car.
She said: ”The owner was in the car.
”But I didn’t stay long enough to see whether he drove off!”
No severe weather warnings were issued around the time of the footage being shot, however Devon Live reported that the region had been experiencing some confusing weather as it was hit by heavy rain, strong winds and hail.

Coastguard warning – always plan ahead
Although the sighting of huge waves tend to bring out the ‘big kids’ in all many of us, the RNLI recommened enjoying the power of the water from a safe and respectful distance.
- Plan your trips to the beach beyond packed lunches and paddle boards.
- Consult tide times and local knowledge to make sure it’s safe to be out.
- In lifeguarding season, always choose a lifeguarded beach and swim between the red and yellow flags.
- When the sea conditions are rough, enjoy the waves from a respectful distance.
