A person who is suspected of causing a one-person crime wave in Devon over the past few weeks has been arrested.

Police say they have arrested and charged a ‘well-known suspect’ with seven theft offences, after spate of thefts from vehicles in Exeter.

On its Facebook page, Exeter Police said: “Over the last few weeks we have received reports of a series of thefts from motor vehicles across the city.

“After some fantastic collaborative work from the neighbourhood team and response, a well-known suspect was identified, arrested and has now been charged and remanded in custody for seven theft offences.”

One victim who commented on the post said: “This is fantastic news.

“I hope to God justice has been served for the trauma I went through at the time of the break in.”

Praising the police for catching the offender, a person commented: “Great work. Well done and thank you for all you do.”
