The A30 and and A38 are both partially blocked this morning, as snow and ice creates hazardous conditions on roads in Devon and Cornwall.

At 6.27am, roads and traffic monitoring service Inrix reported that the A30 in Cornwall was partially blocked eastbound by three lorries stuck on a hill due to a build up of ice.

On the A38, Inrix reported that all traffic was being held after a single-vehicle crash between Liskeard and Dobwalls, that Inrix says has “occurred due to ice build up on the road”.

And the A388 is blocked in both directions between Holsworthy Agri Business Park and Beech Park at Holsworthy Beacon, due to an overturned vehicle.

Elsewhere, BBC Travel South West reported that the reports the B3212 on Dartmoor, between Princetown and Yelverton, is “very slippery due to ice and snow”.

A ‘Yellow’ weather warning for ice has been issued by the Met Office and remains in force for large parts of Devon until 11am this morning.

The weather warning reads: “An area of rain is likely to run across the south of England during Wednesday before clearing to the east overnight into Thursday.

“This will leave surfaces wet with ice forming rapidly once the rain clears. There remains some uncertainty over the extent of the rain through Wednesday with the far south most likely to see this.

“In addition there is a threat of a little snow falling, mainly above 200 m with some accumulations of 2-3 cm but the majority of places will only see rain.”
